In Restriction, Perfection each dancer’s personal story of body image, injury, and/or trauma became an integral part of the work. After identifying a particular body part significant to each woman, I created custom wearable sculptures that restricted movement. The sculptures created a physical representation of the women’s own limiting beliefs about their bodies and the performance offered them an opportunity to renegotiate their complex relationships with their bodies.
