Bar Mounted Sconce II
Bar Mounted Sconce II
This sconce is a wonderful decorative addition to any home. The cup portion is sized for a pillar or tea light candle, rocks or crystals. The bar has two holes for screws (hardware not included).
This sconce is made from mild steel that I heated in a propane forge until glowing orange. I then formed the metal into these unique shapes using a combination of hammers, tongs, and swage blocks. The cup and round rod are riveted to each other and the back-bar. After getting the shape just so, I used a wire wheel and grinder to remove all the flakey scale that builds up on the surface through the process. Then finished with a combination of heat and patinas.
<Image Description: There is an 18" bar that screws into the wall with a curvilinear form extending from it and 5" cupped round form on which the candle would sit. The pieces are riveted together and the finish is a dark coppery, reddish, brown.>
